Marion and her Mama

Marion was born in Berlin, Germany. My mother and father met post WWll in Berlin. They awaited the paperwork for 'clearance' to come to the USA.

It was pain staking to watch my sister do her hair every morning. It had to be perfect. She was a great dresser even on a budget.

My Sister

Here I am with my sister Marion. I called her YaYa and I do not know why but that is what we called her when she was young. On this day in 1956, she saved my life. I remember we were at a street carnival in the parking lot of Thriftymarket in Hacienda Heights. We were on what was called the 'octopus' which had little buckets that twirled around in the air! I started slipping out, we were screaming and I remember my Mother and the ride operator were laughing, perhaps thinking we were having a good time! We were screaming STOP! I remember sliding up and up! She swung her leg over me to hold me down and then they realized what was happening and they stopped the ride...I was only three but remember it vividly. That was the first time she saved my life. I will tell of the other later....
